Every season, two hundred fifty strangers arrive on Pardon Island to begin an extraordinary social experiment.
Nestled along a quiet stretch of coastline, the picturesque town of Mercy Creek appears to be the perfect American community. Tree-lined streets, friendly neighbors, family-owned businesses, and a slower pace of life create the illusion that its residents have stepped back into a simpler time.
For one unforgettable season, two hundred fifty people will call Mercy Creek home.
But there is one secret that changes everything.
Unknown to the residents, five of their neighbors are convicted death row inmates who have been given an unprecedented opportunity to live among ordinary people. Their identities are known only to the production team and the television audience. Every other resident believes all two hundred fifty participants earned their place through the same nationwide selection process.
No one in Mercy Creek knows the truth.
As friendships form, romances blossom, rivalries emerge, and trust is tested, one question quietly lingers beneath every interaction:
